MISS CANDLE FESTIVAL 2013

As I always say, being friendly is all about everything. It can take you somewhere and YES! to the extent of getting a free backstage pass during one of the most prestigious pageants here in Ubon Ratchathani; Miss Candle Ubon.

Ubon Ratchathani Candle Festival’s experience wouldn't be as complete as you wished it to be without watching the beauties of men, I mean, women strutting the customary exquisiteness of Thai Isarn Costume.

UBON CANDLE FESTIVAL 2013

As previously mentioned on my entry, Ubon Ratchathani has hundreds and hundreds of temples across the city. YES! Even after passing by an assemblage of houses, there you will see a temple; whether in a middle of busy yet fully stocked establishments or simply just on a vacant lot. Having said that, Ubon made a commonsensical explanation on why it holds the biggest and most extravagant Candle Festival throughout Thailand during full moon in July which symbolizes the beginning of Buddhist Lent.

Moi alongside with my cousin Nowa, Sir Cheng, and some English friends (who really came to Ubon just to witness the major candle festival) fought the scorching sun and let ourselves be amazed on what Ubon Ratchathani Candle Festival stored for us.

AND IT NEVER FAILED US!

UBON RATCHATHANI 2013

Stayed in Bangkok for two months and tick tock the clock forward and VOILA! Welcome to country’s easternmost part, Ubon Ratchathani (Thai: อุบลราชธานี). A home for beautiful lotus flower in which the city is being named after; 629 kilometers away from Bangkok yet still the most viable alternative from the busiest and most visited city in Asia.

Here, you can witness the REAL THAILAND, I mean, not talking about the tourist spots and beaches across the nation, but culturally speaking, Ubon has by far the most authentic and well preserved Thai lifestyle and lo and behold, the Buddhist temples.

ENJOY!
